Karen was trained in the Biblically based systemic model of Prof. Nicolene Joubert (founder of the Institute of Christian Psychology), Within this model - we acknowledge the physical, social, psychological as well as spiritual areas in a person's life, when dealing with the personal and interpersonal struggles people face. Karen developed a Gestalt pastoral counselling model in her PhD in Pastoral studies through North West University. This model is founded on a Reformed theological approach, into which the Gestalt theory is integrated. Currently she works within this framework, while utilizing the principles of growth from Arthur Burk, dealing with the human spirit. This is by far the most effective model she's ever worked with.

Pastoral counselling generally refer to dealing with the spiritual realm from various spiritual perspectives - while in this practice, a Christian approach and foundation is used. (See FAQ's)
